The purpose of this post is to inform readers about the long list of companies that raised prices due to record breaking inflation. Some companies say increased wages and material shortages is the issue. Others may exaggerate and say inflation affected them just to raise prices even higher due to greed. With slight proof of how companies are affected all the general population can do is take their word for it. Even after raising prices more than once some companies are warning customers of more price hikes. Please note most CEO’s and employees in high positions at these companies are still being paid Millions in stock awards and compensation. There are four major meat companies in the U.S. (Cargill, Tyson Foods, JBS, National Beef Packing). Together the companies control 55%-85% of the hog, cattle, and chicken markets. In December 2021 The White House accused them of contributing to inflation by raising prices while seeing record breaking profits.
Companies
- Altria (Popular tobacco companies): Raised prices three times since March 2020. Their most recent increase was January 2022. Prices went up 14 cents in January 2021 and August 2021. All together prices were raised 43 cents.
- Chili’s: Raised prices once since March 2020. Their most recent increase was November 2021. Prices went up 3%.
- Chipotle: Raised prices three times since March 2020. Their most recent increase was January 2022. Prices went up 4%.
- Conagra (Slim Jim, Reddi-Wip, Chef Boyardee): Raised prices two times since June 2020. Their most recent increase was January 2022. Frozen goods prices went up 12.9%, Snack prices went up 10.2%, Meal staples went up 7.7%.
- Constellation Brands (Corona, Modelo): Raised prices once since March 2020. Their most recent increase was January 2022. Prices went up 2%.
- Comcast: Raised prices numerous times since June 2020 for multiple services. This company have the most price changes on the list. They raised the price on 23 services and some went up by as much as $30 January 2022.
- DirecTV: Raised prices twice since March 2020. Their most recent increase was January 2022. Prices went up by as much as $10. Before then prices went up by as much as $9 in January 2021.
- Disneyland: Raised prices twice since 2020. Their most recent increase was October 2021. Prices went up 8%. Before then prices went up 5% in February 2020.
- Dollar Tree: Raised prices once since March 2020. Their most recent increase was December 2021. Prices went up 25% and will slowly go into effect by May 2022.
- Domino’s Pizza: Raised prices on specific pizzas and came up with a few creative ways to beat inflation. In January 2022 the company modified coupons and is now giving customers less product for the same price.
- Dunkin: Raised prices once since March 2020. Prices went up 8% in January 2021.
- Ford: Raised prices a few times since March 2020. Their most recent increase was December 2021. Prices increased $240-$1000.
- General Mills (Betty Crocker, Pillsbury, Popular Cereals): Raised prices once since March 2020. Their most recent increase was January 2022. Prices went up 20%.
- Hasbro: Raised prices once since March 2020 but no details were provided for the percentage. In July 2021 Hasbro CEO simply stated customers will see a single digit increase in prices.
- Hulu: Raised prices on specific services numerous times since March 2020. In September 2021 the company raised their Live-TV feature by $5/month. In November 2021 the company raised their On-Demand service by $1/month and annual subscription went up $10/month.
- Ikea: Raised prices once since March 2020. Their most recent increase was December 2021. Prices went up 9%.
- Kraft Heinz: Raised prices twice since March 2020. Their most recent increase was December 2021. Prices for some products in their portfolio went up by as much as 20%.
- Little Caesars: Raised prices once since March 2020. Their most recent increase was January 2022. Prices went up 11%.
- Mattel (Barbie, Hot Wheels, Fisher-Price): Raised prices once since March 2020 but no details were provided for their price increase in July 2021.
- McDonald’s: Slowly raised prices since March 2020. Prices went up 8%.
- Mondelez (Oreo cookies, Ritz crackers, Sour Patch): Raised prices once since March 2020. Their most recent increase was January 2022. Prices went up 7%.
- Nestle: Raised prices four times since March 2020. Their most recent increase was October 2021. All together prices went up 4.1%.
- Netflix: Raised prices twice since March 2020. Their most recent increase was January 2022. All together prices went up $3.
- Pepsi: Raised prices once since March 2020. The increase began October 2021. Prices went up 5% and will slowly go into effect throughout 2022.
- Procter & Gamble (Popular household items): Raised prices numerous times since June 2020 for multiple products. Their most recent increase will be 8% in February 2022. Prices went up 4%-20%.
- Reynolds (Popular tobacco companies): Raised prices four times since March 2020. Their most recent increase was December 2022. Prices went up 13 cents in January 2021, 14 cents in April 2021 + July 2021, 15 cents in October 2021 and 14 cents in January 2022. All together prices were raised $1.17.
- Shake Shack: Raised prices three times since March 2020. Their most recent increase was November 2021. Prices went up 5.5%.
- SlingTV: Raised prices once since March 2020. Prices went up $5 in January 2021.
- Spotify: Raised prices once since March 2020. Prices went up $1 in April 2021.
- Taco Bell: Raised prices once since March 2020. Prices went up 10% in July 2021.
- Tyson Foods: Raised prices A few times since March 2020. Their most recent increase was August 2021. Pork prices went up 12.9%, Beef prices went up 12%. Chicken prices went up 16%, Meal staples went up 7.7%.
- Unilever: Raised prices four times since March 2020. Their most recent increase was October 2021. Prices went up 0.3% in 2020, 1% during Q1 in 2021, 1.6% during Q2 in 2021 and 4.1% during Q4 in 2021. All together prices were raised 7%.
- USPS: Raised prices once since March 2020. Their most recent increase was November 2021. Prices went up 3.1%.
- Whirlpool: Raised prices once since March 2020. Their most recent increase was during June 2021. Prices went up 12%.
- Verizon: Raised prices once since March 2020. Their increase was during November 2021. Prices went up $20.
